Tom has been an instructor for the last eight years. He has been a class "A" driver for over 35 years and then turned his interests to teaching what he had learned to new truck drivers. Tom has always had an interest in firearms and safety is the number one word when it comes to any instruction in concealed weapons training he gives. Making sure that above all his students are safe behind the wheel and on the range during the defensive pistol shooting exercises. He has learned over the years that no one learns at the same pace, each and every student is different. Keeping a calm demeanor and a low vocal method of communication is of the utmost importance when instructing a new student on sensitive subjects. This is something he takes pride in especially during his women's concealed handgun program taught in Rochester, MN.
Insuring that the student gets the most out of the curriculum as possible is the reason why Tom is a certified instructor in two major firearm safety organizations and holds many other instructor certifications. He also holds certification as an American Red Cross Instructor and Refuse To Be A Victim Instructor. Tom has put together from these organizations the most informative and complete curriculum possible. Passing on important information to students is in the top priority of the course goals. Making them realize that they don't simply hold a license to carry, they hold a license of responsibility that they should be aware of. The curriculum is not based on just making the score to complete the course but how to keep themselves and loved ones safe from harm and how to avoid situations that could become dangerous.
The curriculum also covers the mental and physical effects that occur during an incident and the legal and moral issues are also discussed. Many are willing to wield the firearm but many don't understand all of the ramifications involved with concealed carry.
My goal as an instructor is to instruct the student how to safely and responsibly own and operate a firearm with confidence and surety in themselves. My curriculum is designed to pose questions and give answers to questions that the student may have when they enter the course. Very few are comfortable with a firearm when they pick it up for the first time. Many have seen movies and news clips that describe and show the destruction that a firearm can cause in the wrong hands. I want to help you become the CORRECT hands that holds that firearm, by becoming safe and responsible in ownership.
